I must admit this wasn’t the first time to meet Dolly Lama and it has never been like a religious experience or anything either. It has always been just a casual meeting, nothing formal, and not much is said either. I am sure this is the next incarnation though, as this Dolly Lama is very young indeed. In fact Dolly is just 2 or 3 weeks old. Now that I have you totally confused let me straighten it out for you… Well to shorten up the story…
This is Dolly…
Dolly started to be a sad story but things got better fast due to some very nice people, Tim and his wife Mari. You see her mother rejected her right after birth and Tim and Mari took over and brought Dolly into the house. They have a dog that now thinks Dolly is her puppy. If you don’t believe me look at this…
As you can see Dolly has a nice home right now and seems to be having a great time. Who would have thought to find Dolly inside a house being protected by its mother (a dog) and supported by a great couple (Tim and Mari).
What is going to happen to the Lama world I ask you!!! Will this lead to the end of Lamas grazing all day in the pasture and just enjoying their grass? In other words, change Lama culture as we know it? Or, will it lead to a deeper understanding within the Lama Culture and change life as we know it for all life forms on the planet? Only time will tell… But in this observers view… we have yet to see the depths of the rippling effects.
Do you think Dolly will influence the dog to graze all day in the pasture and enjoy the grass too?
Young ones have a major affect on their parents you know.
well the dog is eating grass, but Dolly isn’t so not sure what that is all about ๐
Have they tried puppy chow for Dolly? BTW, cute story. So does this mean you are in Ecuador permanently now?
Lama’s only eat grass and leaves and the like. Yes we are here in Ecuador now.
Dolly can only have milk for now – once she gets a little older hopefully grass … but will mention puppy chow to Tim ๐
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine. : )
soo true!!
I am curious about the Dolly Lama. Lama is the genus for both the guanaco and the llama. Is Dolly a llama (lama glama) or a guanaco? If she is a llama, then all the attention is due to such a glama star. [Please pardon the pun, but I couldn’t resist.]
LOL will have to check but I think she is Lama!
Steve, very observant, you bring up excellent points. Let me attempt to address them one at a time, to the best of my humble and limited ability… Technically, we believe Dolly is a Lama glama cacsilensis – Peruvian guanaco or north, is considered, along to the next, sometimes as a species of its own: Lama guanicoe. But I would be remiss if I didn’t mention “The flame, taxonomically, is a subspecies of guanaco”. So to truly understand the origins and historical background of Dolly one must delve further into the creation of the flame. The Spanish were convinced that the Incas had to be one of the twelve lost tribes of Israel who had come to South America and the animals must have migrated there after disembarking the Ark of Noah ” (Dr. Javier Garcia Gomez and Dr. Bibiana Vilรก).
For members of the Inca Empire to create the flames is explained by a very special myth: the son of Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo (the mythical founders of the Inca empire in one of their legends), fell in love with one of her younger sisters I was destined to be a Virgin of the Sun . Obviously the Inca emperor forbade marriage and young people disobeying fled to the countryside, which his father was sentenced to death. The mother begged for mercy the god Viracocha , who took pity on her turning into a pair of llamas. Manco Capac One day he heard of the existence of two animals that roamed with a human look in his eyes and ordered to capture them and take with Cusco and when he had before, he recognized them and sent them to sacrifice. The spirits journey undertaken by the milky way to the abode of Viracocha . It is said that when the flames reach your destination, regain their human form and return the world to a new realm with harmony among men.
Frankly, as of this writing, we are unsure of the exact origins of Dolly Lama, nor were we responsible in any way for the naming of her. But you would have to admit that it is turning out to be a great story isn’t it ๐
Thanks for the comment Steve!
SMH……She is cute
yes for sure she is ๐
Thanks Patrice for sending the link. Yesterday Tim said he thought it would be nice if Dolly would start eating grass soon. She has been trying buds, but has been spitting them out.
maybe she knows that eating grass means going back with the ‘other lamas’ why would she want to leave Tim & Mari’s? Course the dog is eating grass ~ just not Dolly!! LOL
