So, if you ever are cooking with onions and they are, how shall we say it, a bit strong… Prepare them, think chop them like you want to use them, and soak them in plain water, say at least 30 mins. Then drain and do what you want with them – the flavor should be much softer after that.
Hate the way onions smart your eyes? Just spread a bit of vinegar on your work surface, any kind will do, and start working them over. You will find that you will have a smile on your face instead of trying to keep the tears from falling on your onions while you chop them.
