Traveling by Air or Ship?

Traveling by Air or Ship?

If time is not an issue, there are other options to travel other than by Airplane. Let’s face it, Air travel is not as much fun as it used to be. With all of the Security to go through; the baggage restrictions; the hours ahead of your flight you need to be at the Airport are just a few of the issues to deal with. Then there is the Jet Lag and the time changes to deal with. That is if you can fit in the seat with your knees in front of you. Yes, there is the incredible shrinking passenger seat.

There is another way to consider, if you have the time, and that is travel by cruise ship. I know you might be thinking, “Cruise ships just travel around an area, how is that going to help me travel”? That is a reasonable question, but there is more to think about. There is re-positioning Cruises. For example, in the Fall, ships come back to the US from Europe for the winter season to do the Caribbean. In the spring they go over to Europe to do the Mediterranean. When the ships move to a new cruising area they are called re-positioning cruises. If you can time your travel to include a re-positioning cruise you can save some money.

One year we took a re-positioning cruise from Florida to Italy. It was mostly Sea days, but there are lots to do on a ship, you might be surprised at just how much there is. Once you get across there are usually a few ports before ending up in Italy. They are like bonus stops for traveling.

Cost can be a consideration as well. On the cruise I just mentioned, the two of us cruising to Rome from Florida cost us the price of just one economy airfare.

I happen to know someone that is excellent at figuring out what is a great cruise for you as well.
